when I started seeing Miss Kate Moss sporting tailored vests last year (see clippings I've saved from teen vogue Sep. 05) I was a wee bit excited.. but I couldn't help feeling self conscious because of my history with vests...I went through a tapestry style over sized ill fitted vest phase in highschool. But when I saw the effortless look that Luella Bartley was sporting (from domino's random suplement this month) I decided I needed to bust out the wool/silk vest that was bequeathed unto me by my grandfather.
I love the way Miss Bartley layered two vests, and the fact that she's wearing menswear!
it's a bit big on me, so I'm gonna try to fudge it and size it down. I think it's going to become my fall staple item!
It gives me lots of happiness to be able to recycle and re-use such a well made piece of clothing, especially since it has so much sentimental value. I love all of the little details of this vest, it's lined with beautiful silk polkadot fabric,it has 4 pockets! and near the neckline my grandfather's last name Sakazaki is crudely sewin in red thread...heart
looks cute!

I LOVE the pull over sweater vest thang, it's one of my favorite all time ensembles...it never gets old!

Never thought about button-down vests before, I tend to sport the pull over sweater vest geek look from time-to-time (reverting to early 80's childhood??). You totally make this work. Another upside to recycling + thrifting- good, well made quality clothing.

Oooh *jealousy*! I have a somewhat troubled past too, wearing vests mid 90's... But I am totally over my similar concerns with the legging and skinny jeans too - so I think I will be ready for vests this fall...
