I just finished this painting this morning, it's acrylic on canvas.
it will temporarily hang in our living area, until we get some cheery artwork (that is not mine).
I know the notion of hanging up your own work in your own home is sorta weird, but we really needed something cheery and bright on the wall, so I just had to do it. (sorry for the bad photos, it's raining in LA...AGAIN)
And I promise after today, I will shut up about Paul Rand, but I just got this book so I have to share..
it amazes me, how fresh and new all of his designs still feel.
There is so much whimsy and life to his work, how does he create so much expression with so little?
He was a prolific artist who contributed so much to graphic design, some of the most famous logos ever...forget UPS, forget IBM dude...Colorforms (circa 1959) !!

I love the apple! I don't think is weird to hang your own art on your walls. It's part of the DIY spirit, right? I love Paul Rand too! He was always one of the designers that I had my students research when I tought back in Guatemala.

Yeah, he's incredible! I love your apple! I am getting to the same point in our decorating scheme! We have absolutely no art so I am going to have to start putting up something of my own!! I guess the place will turn in to a gallery maybe I will just sign fake names so I can see what people think while trying to not appear self absorbed. I don't think either of us are, we just need art on our walls!
